Packaging Options...

After looking at a lot of packaging , I have selected the appropriate solutions (from my context)that I could print onto and have chosen these on the basis that they work as a range. At this time I am just exploring the possibilities and accommodating sweets around the packaging.

Sweet shaped packaging, not entirely sure how this will look but going to look into it.

Perhaps the box of sweets could be held together by a tidy belly band, this could mean the box could be fancy and the info could be on the band itself. On the other hand the band could be just a simple band.

Sweets could come in nice little boxes that open at the top and these could come as a range within a holder. Same as below very similar different method.

Box with a lift up lid.

Classic tin, this could be made from card and come as small or tall gift boxes similar to roses.

A tray with sections for each flavour?

Same concept based on the idea of a tin lift off lid.
Simple packaging old paper bags with branding on the front
sealed by a flavour sticker.

Plastic jar the packaging takes care of itself would design the labels for the jars the sweets would then be put into one of the above bags accompanied by a sticker depending on the flavour.

Assorted sealed bags.
Tall gift box.

Relevant Packaging Artwork......

In this blog post I have collected a range of packaging that is not necessarily associated with sweets yet is relevant for different reasons. This is the artwork colours illustration style etc. This I hope will Inform my design decisions.

Above is a collection of old mustard containers i'm looking closely at pattern shape and colour.

Really interested in the use of colour and stock, like the classic look and branding is directly relevant to my own Idea.

This works so well with my practice a really interested with the colour and use of imagery...

This has no relevance to sweets I just love the simple black and white style against the brown paper. Perhaps this is all that is needed for my own packaging?

Similar to the last example I love the stock and simple colour use. The possibility of packaging sweets by using a simple paper sleeve is something I might look into.

Again simple and effective, the idea of packaging my packaging is something that might apply to sweets? Is this how my own personal range could be presented.

Hand rendered typography looks so natural I intend to use it at some point the above is such a good example, I personally hate vector lines!

The three examples above are fantastic in their composition iv'e been looking at a lot of this stuff to enable me to rough out my own ideas.

Candy Shop 2...

I visited another candy shop, this one had a greater assortment of sweets this visit was useful in that I now have a better idea on how sweets are displayed what types of sweets people go for and how colours work together on there packaging. This no doubt will inform my design decisions further down the line.

Uncle Joe's Mintballs....

I love how the artwork is put together on this packaging the colours and the vintage style give this packaging a real quality feel.

Right now I am thinking about making a collection of sweet packaging aimed at kids with pocket money. I am playing with the idea of having a sort of character to brand the sweets a sort of T.P Bernard figure.
A similar local character is Uncle Joe's of Wigan, Uncle Joe is at the front of every jar box and individually wrapped suite. As well as the idea of self promotion I love the packaging style its bordering on victorian but more than this its timeless.
Made in Wigan wrapped in wigan the only factory.
